Embossed green linen boards -- good condition with light spots of discoloration on front and back pages. Dust jacket is good. Front and rear end papers show some discoloration. The book is a magnificent work detailing birds of North America. "Originally prepared for the University Society, and included as three volumes of their famous Nature Lovers Library." Birds pictured here have complete information regarding their habits, as well as accurate illustrations. There are 514 color plates, 106 from original paintings by Louis Agassiz Fuertes, while others are the works of artists R. I. Brasher, R. Bruce Horsfall, and Henry Thurston. B/W photos, along with substantial material, are from the National Association of Audubon Societies, the US Department of Agriculture, the American Museum of Natural History, and private collections. It is truly the total bird book.
